Declaration
of Financial Interests Under the Ethics Acts, I provide a statement of my registrable interests to the Standards in Public Office Commission every year. That statement is entered in a register which is laid before Dáil Éireann.
My current financial interests are as follows:
-I am an architect, planner, and college lecturer. I am on leave from my lectureship in planning at the Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street, Dublin 1. I am a member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland and the Irish Planning Institute.
-I
am the owner of a shop with an overhead apartment at Fade Street, South City
Markets, Dublin 2.
-I am a Director of the Green Street Trust Ltd., a Registered Charity c/o 74 Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
-I hold units of the Friends First Stewardship Fund and the Dolmen Securities Green Effects Fund.
I have
screened my financial investments to try and ensure that they meet ethical investment criteria.
This issue is complex, as different people have different concerns and
values. In addition funds and companies change their investments and policies on
a regular basis. I have applied humanist, environmental, human rights, and animal welfare
criteria to my own investments, and review them on a regular basis. If you have any queries or concerns regarding the companies
that these funds invest in, please contact me.
I
believe that the Irish Government through the National Treasury Management
Agency,
as well as charities and pension funds would apply ethical criteria to their
investments. I recommend the
websites below for those wishing to learn more about this subject.
Finally, here's an article that I wrote in the Sunday Independent on 5 October 2005 regarding green investments- 'My Favourite Share' Ethical Investment
