Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Waste:
Green Bins Links to: Ballyogan Recycling Park, Bring Banks in your area, Composting, Green Bins, Waste Charges, What happens to your waste?
Many homes in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown have a free monthly Oxigen green bin collection.
You can put newspapers, magazines, light cardboard packaging such as cereal boxes, drink (aluminium) cans, food (steel) cans, and clean tetrapak (waxed plastic) milk and juice containers into your green bin.
The materials currently being collected for recycling have been selected on the basis of the availability of sustainable markets for all of these materials and the fact that they can be successfully collected, separated and reprocessed. Contracts for the supply of these materials to end recycling companies have been secured for the duration of the contract of the dry recycling initiative. You shouldn't put glass, plastic or textiles (such as clothing) into your green bin. Instead you can bring glass and textiles to your local bring centre . If you have any queries in relation to this service please do not hesitate to contact the Environment Department on 205 4817.
Oxigen is the private company that collects the Green Bins on behalf of the Council. Their website was quite out of date when we accessed it on 18 May 2005, but it may have been updated by the time you read this page. Their number is 01 462 4459, and they can send you out a new calender for green bin collections if your own has run out. Page last updated 18 May2005 |
