The waiver scheme provides for a waiver of the €80 Standing Charge. If your only income is an Old Age or Widows Pension, Invalidity Pension, Unemployment Assistance, Blind Persons Pension or any similar form of Social Welfare Assistance or Income you may qualify for a waiver of the €80 Standing Charge:

An additional waiver of €120 will apply where a household in receipt of an €80 waiver (total waiver for the year €200) comprises solely of: A couple and 4 or more dependent children only ; Or A single parent and 3 or more dependent children only

Allowances in respect of dependent children

In calculating the waiver an allowance will be given for dependent children including children over 18 and in full time education. A dependent child is not in receipt of any income in its own right. This allowance amounts to €22.00 per week per dependent child and the income threshold is increased by this amount in each case.
