GREEN
PARTY WELCOMES BORD PLEANALA
DECISION ON FASSAROE BUSINESS PARK
The
Green Party has welcomed this weeks decision by An Bord Pleanála to turn down
proposals for a massive 200 acre business park estate on high amenity lands at
Fassaroe near Bray.
Councillor
Ciarán Cuffe of the Green Party has praised the Board for their decision,
stating that high amenity lands would now be protected.
“The
development would have contradicted the Strategic Planning Guidelines and the
principles of sustainable development, and I am glad that they made reference to
this in their decision” he stated . “The development would have been too
dependent on cars as the predominant mode of transportation.”
“The
proposal by Borg Developments was also within an Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty as designated in the current Wicklow County Development Plan, and this
will now be protected.”
“It
also means that the Green Belt between Bray and Enniskerry will be
maintained.”
