GREENS CALL FOR DÚN LAOGHAIRE
TRADERS’ VOICE TO BE HEARD
Councillor
Ciarán Cuffe of the Green Party has called on Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Council
to listen to the concerns of traders and residents in regard to the road works
and traffic improvements in the town.
“The
works have dragged on for far too long, and many traders are being badly
affected” he stated. “I have written to the County Manager Mr. Derek Brady
calling on him to ‘fast-track’ the works, particularly on the Marine
Road.”
“The
current traffic management proposals make it impossible for family groups to
park beside the church on the Marine Road for funerals. It is even difficult to
approach the church with a hearse. I am calling for emergency measures to be put
in place to facilitate the Church, and traders who are being disrupted by the
works.
“There
is no excuse for failing to coordinate all the works. I can only conclude that
bad management is allowing the works to continuer for this length of time.”
