GREEN
PARTY CALL FOR DÚN LAOGHAIRE SKATE PARK
The
Green Party has made a call for a skate park to be provided in Dún Laoghaire.
The Party has written to Derek Brady, the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County
Manager urging him to provide a skate park for children within the County.
“Children
need proper play facilities”, stated Green Party Dáil candidate Ciarán
Cuffe. “We feel that there aren’t enough amenities for
children within the County.
“In
the light of the tragic death recently of a young skate-boarder in Cork, I
believe that the provision of a public skating facility could prevent such
accidents from happening. It would be a valuable resource for all young people.
“The
County Development plan states; “It is a policy of the Council to provide,
maintain and manage a major children’s play facility in each of its major
parks…”. The Green Party believes that a skate park should form part of such
a facility.
“I
believe it would be in the interest of all children within the County that a
skate park be provided.
