GREEN
PARTY CALLS ON DEMSEY TO PUBLISH NATIONAL SPATIAL STRATEGY
The
Green Party has called on the Minister for the Environment Noel Dempsey to
publish the National Spatial Strategy.
“What
is Minister Dempsey afraid of?” asked the Green Parties Planning Spokesperson
Ciarán Cuffe today. He went on to state: “The Report’s recommendations
should be made public so that the Regions know where they stand. This would
allow for balanced regional development.
He
also called for the Interim Report of Justice Flood to be published.
“The
Flood Tribunal was set up four and a half years ago. It is unacceptable that the
Interim Report has not been published. In thee interests of transparency,
openness and democracy we are calling for the interim findings to made public so
that people know where they stand in regard to their General Election
candidates.”
Mr.
Cuffe went on to state that the Green Party in Government would undo the bad
planning decisions that have been made over the last decade, and persecute all
those implicated in the report of Justice Flood.
He
also stated that the Party would make available serviced land at affordable
prices in the right locations so that homes are sold at affordable prices, and
Involve communities in the proper planning and sustainable developments of their
neighbourhoods.
