Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he intends granting a consent under the National Monuments Act 1994 for the partial demolition of Carrickmines Castle; and if so, the reasons for granting such a consent. [13032/03]

Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Cullen):  I have received a draft of an application from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for joint consent under section 14 of the National Monuments Act 1930, as amended, in relation to works on the South Eastern Motorway at Carrickmines.

I am now addressing this matter having regard to the statutory considerations involved and will determine it following due assessment of all relevant issues
