Background

In November, the Green Left was a big winner in Denmark’s local elections, with Sisse Marie Welling becoming the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen. In the Dutch local elections, GroenLinks-PvdA has won the most votes nation-wide and came out first in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and five of the Netherlands’ other ten biggest cities. In the UK, the Green Party of England and Wales and the Scottish Greens had their best ever election result. The German Greens achieved a major regional victory in Baden-Württemberg, and won the Mayorship of Munich for the first time.

The Green Left has been a full member of the European Green Party since 2014.
