Ciarán Cuffe, co-chair of the European Green Party said:

"We encourage Polish people to vote on Sunday. Last Sunday, Romania chose a pro-European, democratic president in the form of Nicușor Dan. On Sunday, Poland will be faced with a similar choice: courage, hope, and solidarity with a vote for Rafał Trzaskowski, or fear and isolationism with the far-right candidate. Poland knows what it means to stand for freedom, democracy and culture. The large turnout at Rafał Trzaskowski’s march last Sunday demonstrates the popularity of the mayor of Warsaw. We hope that on 1 June, the Polish people will choose a European, just, and united future. The European Green Party therefore endorses Rafał Trzaskowski.”

Vula Tsetsi, co-chair of the European Green Party, added:

"The Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski is a steadfast defender of liberal democracy, and a symbol of resilience against creeping authoritarianism. In the 2023 national elections, a broad mobilisation behind the Civic Coalition, of which the Polish Greens (Zieloni) are a part, ended eight years of harsh rule by the Law and Justice - PiS (ECR) party. Today, the margins in the polls are very narrow, so we hope everyone will vote. The outcome of this election will shape the future of Poland and of Europe."

Terry Reintke and Bas Eickhout, co-presidents of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament added:

“We stand with candidate Rafał Trzaskowski in defense of democracy, equality, and human rights in Poland. His vision represents a Poland that is open, inclusive, and committed to the rule of law. Everywhere in Europe, we must unite to stop the rise of authoritarianism and discrimination. On Sunday, Polish voters have the choice to vote for freedom, dignity, and a better future for all - or for a party that incites hatred against political opponents and anyone who rejects their backward-looking ideological straitjacket.“

The Polish Greens (Zieloni) are members of the European Green Party. Thanks to their success in the parliamentary elections of October 2023, Zieloni now has three members of parliament and gives the Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland.
